Winner of the Autumn 2012 competition announced

By editorOctober 10, 2012

Our autumn competition gave one lucky reader the chance to win an FL Studio Music Production System designed by Image Line

The lucky winner is Ásbjörn Skarphéðinsson from Iceland.

Here’s what Ásbjörn had to say upon hearing the news;

“Wow! That’s great news! I never win any contests and finally I win one I actually care about!

“When I was younger I really liked electronic artists like The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim.  I really wanted to make that kind of music but growing up in the countryside with limited access to dial-up internet, I didn’t have the slightest clue about samplers or synthesizers.

“Then I found out this one boy I went to school with was making Europop and burning on to CD’s.  I didn’t really like the music but was fascinated with how he made it, so I asked him what software to get and how to use it.  Pretty soon after that I was hooked and there was no turning back.”
“Although I haven’t really gotten into performing my music live, I’ve been producing it at home for years now.  My hope is that with FL Studios new performance mode I’ll be able to perform live, thus avoiding starting from scratch in Ableton.  My friend Thorbjorn and I are releasing an instrumental hip-hop album in the coming weeks.  We call ourselves Nutrasweet, and the album is called Bergmál, which translates to “Echoes”.  It will be available for download for free, through our soundcloud and facebook page.”
