An original track by Mad Hearts, remixed by BoyMartel, took the top prize at BPM Live’s B-Side Project Awards which were held at Metropolis Studios in London on April 14th, 2015.
Sponsored by internationally acclaimed manufacturer Prism Sound, the Awards marked the culmination of a year-long project to promote new artists, merge music genres and provide additional platforms for live and electronic music productions. Five awards were presented with Mad Hearts/BoyMartel winning the gong for Best Production.
Other winners included Jacqueline Rolston and remixer DaftFader, who won the Award for Arrangement; David Green and remixer Loomis, who won the Award for Imagination; Adrian O and remixer Dan Villalobos, who won the award for Innovation and Lauren Brombert and remixer Chemikal Recipe, who won the Public Choice Award.
The 10 top entries will be released as a compilation album on the B-Side Recordings label, distributed by Republic of Music and available to download via numerous online retailers including iTunes.
Now in its fifth year, this annual competition attracted entries from over 120 artists, bands and producers from 18 different countries. Each artist was paired with an electronic music producer who re-mixed their track to create a new and exciting musical work.
The Award winners were chosen by a judging panel that included high profile producers and remixers such as Roni Size, Krystal Roxx, Wolfgang Flur and Matt Schwartz, all of whom were present at the Awards ceremony. Normski was Master of Ceremonies for the event, which was streamed live via the Prism Sound website, and the guest list also featured Glen Nicholls (Future Funk Squad), Estelle Rubio and Cut La Roc.
Yvette Chivers, Founder of BPM Live, says: “The B-Side Project team are overwhelmed by how the latest phase and awards event went, with huge support from all the musicians, remix producers, partners and judges. And of course we could not have done this without Prism Sound. They have helped us to put the project on the music industry map, which can only help us promote the musicians and producers who take part and assist them in their music careers. We were astounded by the attendance at Metropolis Studios and already planning the album release for this Summer, as well as opening the next phase in June.”
Prism Sound’s product range includes high-quality audio interfaces such as Lyra, Titan and Atlas that are ideally suited to music producers, remixers and DJs. This synergy between the two brands prompted the company to sponsor the B-Side Project and support it via extended marketing and promotion at various events including its popular Mic to Monitor tours.
Graham Boswell, Sales and Marketing director for Prism Sound, says: “We’re absolutely delighted with our first year as headline sponsors of the B-Side Project. Yvette Chivers has delivered a great experience for all of the musicians and producers who entered the competition and the Awards night at Metropolis was a great success. Prism Sound is always looking for ways to support and encourage new creative musical talent and the B-Side project is a great way to achieve that. We are looking forward to the next round of the competition which opens shortly!”
As part of their prize, Mad Hearts and Boy Martel were both presented with a high quality Prism Sound Lyra audio interface. The pair also received ACS Custom hearing protection, a one-year Associate membership of the Music Producers Guild and the opportunity to have their track mastered at Metropolis Studios.
